Christmas at the Heartbrake-ridge
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. ”
John 14.27 NIV
On Christmas Eve, a young soldier was severely injured at the Heartbreak Ridge, one of the bloodiest battlefields in the Korean War. The field priest crossed the ridge and almost fell over one soldier. “Can I help you, my friend?” He whispered.
“No thanks, everything is alright,” replied the soldier.
The priest was wondering how the young man could be so calm in a moment like this. Then he watched the New Testament, which the soldier held firmly on to. And the reason for the man’s peace of mind was to be found in the page where his index finger rested in the New Testament. “my peace I give you.” John 14.27NIV
Today, in the midst of troubles, terror and war, this peace can be yours as well. It can be yours if you put your trust in Jesus Christ … The gift of eternity can become ours at this very moment. ”Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. ” 1. John. 5.12NIV.
This is the true Christmas message.
